We, the wife and husband team, started Bonita Canteen with a desire and dedication to provide health-conscious people with authentic and homemade products.
With a strong connection with our Rwandan culture, we developed a single-ingredient Kefir from a traditional recipe that dates back many generations. All our products are made with a commitment to simple ingredients and mini: Our process is simple, our commitment is genuine, and our focus is health.

Why should I add Kefir to my diet?
The bacteria in the digestive system are important to health and are easily thrown out of balance by everyday stress. Consuming highly processed foods or not consuming enough fiber can also negatively impact this balance. So, probiotics in Bonita Kefir are an easy way to help combat these factors and may help keep your digestive system regulated.
How much Kefir should I drink each day?
It’s entirely up to you, but we recommend consuming one to two 8 ounce servings of kefir each day for maximum probiotic health. Everyone reacts differently to kefir, so play around with your serving and see what works for you. Some people drink a few ounces a day, while others drink 32 ounces or more each day!
What milk do you use to produce your products?
We use milk from Canadian dairy farmers, as per the respective logo on our labels. Our products are made from 100% fresh milk. We do NOT add milk powder, corn starch, or any other substitutes to our all-natural products.
Is your Kefir gluten and lactose-free?
Our Kefir and kefir based products are gluten-free. However we cannot claim them to be completely lactose-free. Lactose does break down throughout the fermentation process; however some customers can still experience intolerances to cultured milk products. Should you have lactose intolerance or similar allergies, please consult your doctor.
How long does Bonita Kefir stay fresh after opening?
We recommend consuming our kefir within one week after opening. Remember to store our products in the fridge.
Where can I buy your products?
Our products are currently available exclusively at our online store all year around and at selective local farmers markets in Ottawa during the summer.
